The message we try to consistently send to our students through our words & actions is this:
“We love you. We believe in you. We know you can do hard things. We know leaning into the struggle is what will free you from it. And that’s why we will continue to insist that you do.”

I might make it (for my students): I care about you. I believe in you. I know you can do hard things. We know leaning into the struggle is what will free you from it. This is why I consistently encourage you to do it.
Unconditional positive regard is the light we give children to help them walk out of the darkness. There is no more important belief system a human can have for other humans. It will heal a broken soul.
